Course format
Each of the 15 lessons will include the following:
- A pre-recorded video, to be viewed in the participant’s own time. Each video will be made available at least a week before the corresponding instructor Q&A session. Most of the videos are recordings of live sessions from an earlier course (many of which were conducted via Zoom).
- Readings (see below).
- An interactive meeting (see meeting dates above), involving the following:
(a) A Q&A session with the guest instructor (who may or may not be the same instructor from the pre-recorded lesson video),
and
(b) a small group session, including discussion and prayer. You will meet in the same small group (of up to 5 persons) throughout the course to share what you are learning, to encourage and to pray for one another.
Most of these interactive meetings will be held online via the Zoom platform. However, lessons 5, 9 and 15 are scheduled to be in-person meetings at Bartley Christian Church, subject to the COVID-19 situation and prevailing social restrictions. - Assignments (see below).
The Lesson 1 video and reading should be completed before the first interactive meeting (16 Oct 2021). These materials are contained in the free taster pack.
Readings and assignments
The readings are from the Perspectives Study Guide and Reader (see below).
You will be required to complete five short written reflections to help you integrate, apply, and discuss your learning points from the course.
If you wish to take the course to a higher level (certificate level), you will need to complete a further fifteen reviews for each lesson, and an integrative project after the end of the course. These reviews are “open book” exercises.
Course books
Course participants are required to read material contained in the 4th edition of the Perspectives Study Guide and the Perspectives Reader. These books can be purchased in two different formats:
- Combined Ebook (recommended). The Perspectives on the World Christian Movement (Combined Ebook) contains both the Study Guide and the Reader. The Combined Ebook is available from Amazon’s Kindle store: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08DJ9NLPV/.
- Physical books (for those who prefer physical books). Course participants can purchase the 4th Edition of the Study Guide and Reader from us for S$60 (self-collection from Commonwealth area).
